Filter 100 Gallons of Water -- The Sport Berkey Filter
At $0.29 per gallon, along with the security and peace of mind that you can scoop water from any source and drink life-saving water -- it's well worth it and I would contend it would be THE most important survival tool you could purchase.
This is an expeditionary grade water filter. The easy to use bottle format makes it convenient and you can even use it in public without looking out of place. The filter reduces viruses, so fill it from a drinking fountain. City water often contains high levels of impurities and even prescription drugs, which the filter will remove.
It's great for health, as well as survival.
Berkey is a trusted name. Many, many people have put the black filter elements through the paces over the years and the manufacturer regularly performs tests with their filters on contaminated water from different water disasters across the U.S. -- these filters always come out on top, providing a sure-fire safe water source if needed.

The protected straw is a key feature on this filter. It allows you to expose the straw and drink without actually touching the straw, as your fingers may be contaminated. The straw also makes it easy and convenient to drink from for children or perhaps the infirmed.
Another added benefit of this design is that you can squeeze water from the bottle into a container to make coffee, soup, oatmeal, formula for infants. It's a little time consuming to do so, but you have that capability if it is needed.
From city water sources, you'll get 600 to 700 refills on just one filter. From dirtier sources, you may only get half of that -- regardless of what source you use, however, you can count on the fact that the water will be perfectly safe to drink with an improved taste.
Perfect for people with children to consider in preparedness, as the bottle is intuitive for kids to use making it easier to transition to drinking in a new way. Replacement filters are available for about $20 each. Bottles and filters have an indefinite shelf life before use.
Use it on a daily basis to remove harmful chemicals found in most municipal water supplies, then take it with you on hikes to use with a stream -- or, just squirrel it away in your preparedness supplies for use in an emergency. Any way you cut it, water is a key resource and having a trusted, easy to use filter is a must have item.
